Jesús pursued studies of Law and Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he got his Bachelor in Laws in 2008. He also spend one year pursuing a a Diploma in English Law at the University of Kent at Canterbury, which he got in 2006, and pursued a two-year Master in the Executive Program in Business Law for Garrigues lawyers by the Harvard School of Law and Centro de Estudios Garrigues, which he obtained in 2010. In 2019, he was admitted at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid as a PhD student in the Civil and Criminal Litigation Department under the direction of the prestigious Dr. Fernando Gascón Inchausti, Chair Professor of the Universidad Complutense and Of counsel of Herbert Smith Freehills.

Since 2008, Jesús worked in the litigation and arbitration departments of renowned Spanish and international law firms such as Garrigues, where he worked as a junior lawyer until 2011, Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, where he worked as an associate lawyer until 2014, Elizalde&Barrie SLP and Rodríguez Arribas Abogados SLP, where he worked simultaneously as managing partner and external of counsel for civil and comercial litigation until 2017, respectively. And lastly at Díez-Picazo, SLP where he worked as partner until 2018.

He has the immense honour of having been associated since 2015 with highly renowned Spanish litigation, civil, commercial and constitutional lawyers: First and foremost, the co-founder of its first own litigation firm (Elizalde & Barrie, SLP), Dr. Francisco de Elizalde and Dra. Sonsoles Arias, former senior associates of Garrigues  in 2014, Mr. Ramón Rodríguez Arribas (Rodríguez Arribas Abogados SLP, founded in 2015 by Mr. Rodríguez Arribas, former Spanish Constitutional Court VP and Supreme Court Magistrate and where Jesús was of counsel until 2017) and, last but not least, Dr. Ignacio Díez-Picazo Giménez, chair professor on Litigation at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and former head of litigation and arbitration departments of Linklaters and Herbert Smith Freehills, nowadays managing director of Díez-Picazo, SLP, famous Spanish lawfirm founded in 1964 by his father Dr. Luis Díez-Picazo y Ponce de León, Chair professor of civil law at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and former Magistrate of the first Spanish Constituional Court, where Jesús was partner until 2018).

Nowadays, Jesús combines his own solo litigation practice -with ad-hoc team-association with brilliant lawyers from other practices- with an intense academic activity, lecturing every year as Adjunct Professor of the Litigation Departments at IE University (since 2015) and Universidad Complutense de Madrid (since 2017). He has been awarded with the academic excellence diplomas in both Universities in years 2017, 2019 and 2020.

Jesus counts with a nourished precontentious and litigation practice before the Spanish Courts in comercial litigation for national and international clients within the infrastructure, financial, intelectual property and retail sectors. He has also acted before national arbitration institutions. He is a member of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA).

Lastly, he has co-authored the books “International Arbitration Rules: A comparative guide (Lloyd’s Arbitration Law Library), [exp. publication date: 20/12/2019] and “Late payment of the Spanish Public Administration”, Ed. Aranzadi, 2012; as well as some set of publications edited by Herbert Smith LLP on 2012 and 2014 called “The long arm of regulation: Responding to cross-border financial services investigations”.

He is also an investigation member since 2019 of the Jean Monnet Chair of European Civil Procedure, lead by Dr. de Benito (Full Professor of IE University) and the Project “Towards an Effective Civil Justice System”, European project lead by Chair Professor at Universidad Complutense, Dra. Aguilera Morales.
